Over the past four years, GAO has develop a range of projects with the Indigo Shire Council to help position Beechworth, Rutherglen and the surrounding townships in the global markets and to capitalise on the long term growth from the international tourism, wine and export sectors.

In 2014, GAO was first engaged as part of a consortium to develop a China Tourism Project for Indigo Shire Council (ISC). The impetus for this project was the significant Chinese investment in the regions wine industry and a desire to understand the long term opportunities for the region to attract the growing Chinese tourism market.

Utilising the key insights and findings from the China Tourism Project, GAO was engaged by ISC in 2017 to deliver a broader International Tourism Product Development Project.

This project aimed to; Identify and define potential international target markets; Identify new and existing product development and investment priorities and develop activities to understand and cater for the priority western markets including New Zealand, the UK & USA along with the local Chinese and Indian communities based in Australia.
