Digital Campaign & Consumer Activation

The Furano region is located in the centre of Hokkaido, in the north island of Japan. Well-known among Australian ski travellers for its incredible ski and snow experiences, the region also offers fantastic tourism experiences year-round.

The Furano Tourism Board was looking to raise brand awareness for the destination, gain insight into the Australian market, and gauge interest in Australian travel to Japan and Furano during the summer months.

Recognising the importance of delivering an integrated communication program and building an emotional connections with potential travellers, Furano Tourism Board engaged GAO and our partner Kreate Australia to deliver a digital advertising campaign and consumer activation that involved:

  • Development of a digital strategy and programmatic advertising campaign, including development of a survey competition to glean insights into the Australian market.

  • Two-day live activation site at Melbourne’s Chadstone Shopping Centre.

  • Creative and content development including digital advertising, campaign microsite, website editorial and new photography.

  • Identifying and developing strategic partnership opportunities with Japanese airlines and travel agencies.
